Since 1974, visitors and residents have been able to view different historic sites and share in their history, enchanting charm and holiday cheer.

All structures on the tour are in the three hundred block area that composes the Historic District of Wilmington, North Carolina, as listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A different grouping of homes and sites are selected every year.

The 2012 Candlelight Tour features 16 houses in Wilmington's Historic Downtown and Carolina Heights Districts, spanning from the early to mid-nineteenth centuries to the mid-twentieth century. Buildings on the 2012 tour include: homes that belonged to well-known Wilmington artist Elizabeth Chant, and historian Louis T. Moore; three historic churches; and two businesses dating to the early 1900s.

The Tour is held on Saturday, December 1, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm; and Sunday, December 2, from 2:00pm until 6:00pm.
